“Things to Buy With Your Gift Cards”

It’s the end of December!  We love everything about December – spending time with friends and family, shopping for the perfect gifts, and cook-eat-repeat.  With all the joy the holidays bring they also bring stress, weight gain, and New Year’s resolutions.  If you did not get any of the following as gifts over the holidays then use those lovely gift cards and buy all of these immediately:

Workout Gear: Fitbit Ionic

We are legit obsessed.  The slate blue/burnt orange combo is everything. It has built-in GPS and a built-in music player which means that you don’t have to carry your phone during workouts any longer. The Ionic has all the regular features of other Fitbit watches but steps up the game with its additional features such as being swim proof and you can make payments with the built-in chip.  It also features popular apps.   The battery lasts forever so much so that you will forget the last time you charged it.  Good for New Year’s resolutions, people!

Food: Siggi’s Yogurt

Almost every dietitian we know (that isn’t vegan) is obsessed with Siggi’s yogurt.  From its ultra -cool packaging with an easy tear-off label so that you can recycle the plastic cup and paper label separately to its claim “simple ingredients, not a lot of sugar”, Siggi’s yogurt is a much needed change in the yogurt industry.  Yogurt has gone from a quick, healthy breakfast to a potentially sugar-laden candy bar style treat.  Siggi’s helps yogurt make a comeback by giving it a healthy makeover.  It is high in protein, contains real fruit, has 25% less sugar than leading flavored yogurts, and it is all natural including milk from grass-fed cows, no preservatives, and no artificial coloring.  Pucker up!  We love its punchy flavor.

Motivation: Taylor Swift Reputation

Julie has 2 little girls that got Taylor Swift concert tickets from Santa.  Trust me, it’s not just for her girls, Julie was equally as excited to get tickets.  She will be belting out the songs as loud as she can at the 2018 Philly concert.  What we love about this album is the “sing-a-bility” and upbeat tempos that keep us moving without even knowing we are sweating buckets in the middle of a HIIT workout.

Recipe: Siggi’s Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie

Why breakfast?  Research shows that people who lost significant amounts of weight and kept the weight off were all breakfast eaters!  Skipping breakfast leads to overeating in the later part of the day.  Don’t worry…if you have the right ingredients on hand making breakfast an “everyday thing” will be easy.  A nutritious breakfast includes: protein, carbohydrates, healthy fats, and fiber.  We love to start non-breakfast eaters off with a smoothie.  Check out this delicious smoothie recipe from Siggi’s. It contains all the right nutrients! People, there is no excuse not to eat breakfast anymore!

Book: The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life by Mark Manson

We have highlighted text, bent pages, and wrote notes throughout this whole book.  In fact, Julie is reading it again.  Trust us, read the Amazon reviews.  This book is a super cool look at why “everyone gets a medal” doesn’t help us grow to be better people.  Listen, we don’t want to ruin it for you.  Go get the book (if you don’t mind a little bad language and you aren’t afraid to have your feelings hurt)!
